Where learners are required to use ICT as part of a learning activity, the Tutor should ensure that they are able to see the screen of the device and should check that all learners are only accessing appropriate internet sites.
The internet at GVNC is set up to ensure that over 18 content and other inappropriate content, such as adverts are blocked.
The Teams teaching platforms incorporates online safety. Only permitted users are provided with access to the classroom and recorded material on Moodle. The platform is secure, so no unsolicited materials are viewable, while external videos are utilised, as part of the content delivery
The student Moodle is only accessible to designated users and students are only permitted to their designated Cohorts page. The site is password protected. Students are strongly advised not to share their password with anyone else. If there are not using their personal devices, GVNC advise to log out of all sites, clear browsing history, including passwords and cookies.
Students are encouraged to engage with their colleagues within their Cohorts, as this can be an invaluable source of support during the course. GVNC would like to remind students of their agreement to conduct themselves in a professional manner, exercise online security and be mindful of attitude, language, behaviour demonstrated, and context of content used in any group chats.

GVG recognise that internet safety is an organisation wide responsibility, including that of staff, learners, and employers.
Children and vulnerable adults may expose themselves to danger, whether knowingly or unknowingly, when using the internet and other technologies. Additionally, some children and vulnerable adults may find themselves in activities which are inappropriate or possibly illegal.
We therefore recognise our responsibility to educate our learners teaching them the appropriate behaviours and critical thinking skills to enable them to remain both safe and legal when using the internet and related technologies.
GVNC and the learner/student recognise that digital technologies are integral to life, as they stimulate discussion, promote creativity, and provide an extended context for learning.

- Learners/students will be responsible and use technology in a safe way, including the use of the internet and other digital technologies for educational, personal, and recreational use
- GVNC systems and users are protected from accidental or deliberate misuse, which could place the security of the systems at risk. Access to digital technologies enhance learning and GVNC expect learners/students to be responsible users
Use of social media
Social media is now commonplace in our society. It permits users to share opinions and insights, share information, knowledge, ideas, and interests. It can also have the benefit of joining communities and networks, as well as advertising.
Within the veterinary profession this type of media is utilised wisely for both professional and personal reasons.

Individuals working in the veterinary profession have a responsibility to behave in a manner that does permit the profession into disrepute or risk the removal of
registration status. As members of the veterinary profession, SVN’s and RVN’s are expected to uphold the standards of the profession in the real world in the online world.
Safe use of social media is policy of GVNC. Any video materials used in session are content reviewed prior to inclusion. Sites used ensure have the secure icon (padlock) visible in the site address and strong firewalls are used with the browsers. GVNC students are encouraged to use social media in a safe manner, such visiting secure sites, installing strong firewall and antivirus applications on all their devices and not clicking on suspicious emails or links.
GVNC students will be given an email address, which is protected and is to be used for accessing all their teaching materials and for correspondence with GVNC staff.
