Facilities

A purpose-built learning environment

GVNC is based in Woodford Green and provides a modern, purpose-built environment designed to support every stage of a learner’s veterinary nursing journey. Our facilities combine high-quality teaching spaces, dedicated skills areas and comfortable student zones that create a supportive, professional and welcoming place to study.

The college environment has been developed to reflect the realities of working in veterinary practice – from hands-on clinical skills rooms to flexible learning spaces that support both classroom and remote study. Whether students are attending on-site teaching sessions or accessing digital resources, the focus is always on building confidence, competence and real-world readiness.

Teaching Environment

A supportive, student-centred teaching environment

A supportive, student-centred teaching environment Our teaching approach is designed to give every learner the confidence, skills and support they need to succeed – both academically and in practice.

Small class sizes for personalised learning

We keep class sizes intentionally small to create a friendly, inclusive environment where students receive one-to-one guidance, regular feedback and tailored support from tutors.

Flexible Hybrid Learning Model

We aim to visit your practice at least twice a year to spend time with both you and your clinical coach. One of our teaching team will visit your practice to support and reinforce your practical skills, give you direction with your nursing progress log and discuss your ongoing learning and development with your practice colleagues.

Weekly or flexible on-site sessions

Depending on the course, students attend weekly classes or less frequent in-person sessions focused or practical skills, revision, demonstrations and real-world application of theory.

Microsoft Teams e-learning platform

Students have access to Microsoft Teams Education, providing interactive digital resources, communication channels with tutors, Office 365 tools, and structured guidance to support learning outside the classroom.

Practice Visits

Our support extends beyond the College and into each learner’s workplace. Tutors visit students in their veterinary practices at least twice per year, giving them the opportunity to observe progress, discuss development, and address any challenges in real time. During these visits, tutors work closely with learners and their clinical supervisors or mentors to:

Reinforce practical skills and ensure they align with course requirements.
Provide guidance on the Nursing Progress Log (NPL) or portfolio.
Offer tailored advice to support day-to-day learning within the practice.
Strengthen communication between the College and the practice team to ensure learners feel supported in both environments.

These collaborative visits help maintain consistency, confidence and progress throughout the training journey.

“I think the college facilities are really good. The classrooms and skills lab are well- equipped and make learning easier. There is also plenty of space in the break room to take a well- deserved break after learning.”
