Start Your Vet Nurse Career With Us

Veterinary Nurses play a central role in all practices and we are proud to offer training to students across the UK whether they are part of our own group, other practice groups or independent practices.

Welcome to GVNC

If you are looking to further your career by studying for your Diploma in Veterinary Nursing or Veterinary Nursing Assistant Certificate, our approach and commitment to you will ensure you are ready to succeed and reach your full potential. We’re extremely proud of our high pass rates, which are consistently and significantly higher than the national average.

We’re delighted to welcome applications to study from all prospective students ahead of our various intakes throughout the year. You’ll benefit from teaching by our team of experienced lecturers, Internal Quality Assessors (IQAs), examiners and practice RVNs. In addition, our hybrid learning approach combines on-site teaching with e-learning or distance learning, enabling your course to fit in with the demands and rigours of working and studying at the same time.

What We Offer

Level 2 Certificate

To become a qualified and recognised Veterinary Care Support (VCS) Assistant. A VCS assistant plays a critical role in the day-today smooth running of a practice and the care of patients.

Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing

This formal qualification is recognised by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and is accredited by both Ofqual and the RCVS.

Apprenticeships

As an Apprentice at GVNC, you’ll get hands-on training in a vet practice and be paid a salary whilst working towards an industry-recognised veterinary nursing qualification.

Your Learning Environment

Our courses are flexible, which allows teaching to take place remotely, with weekly or less frequent on-site sessions depending on the course you choose.

On-site Classes

Our on-site classes are limited to small groups to ensure that you receive individual attention in a supportive, reassuring and friendly environment.

E-Learning

We use the Microsoft Teams education platform which provides a variety of interactive applications, access to your own college email address, use of Office 365 and a communication channel to your peers and tutors.

Practice Visits

We aim to visit your practice at least twice a year to spend time with both you and your clinical coach. One of our teaching team will visit your practice to support and reinforce your practical skills, give you direction with your nursing progress log and discuss your ongoing learning and development with your practice colleagues.

Facilities

A purpose-built training facility with interactive presentation technology
A large library and a wide range of teaching resources
Access to state-of-the-art veterinary hospital facilities
A dedicated kitchen and lunch area
A comfortable breakout area to relax in during breaks
An large grassed outdoor picnic area for student use

Teaching Approach

Our teaching staff are all qualified tutors with significant industry experience and are overseen by the College Head of Centre, who is responsible for overall standards and teaching performance. Staff knowledge is matched with both individual learner and group needs when planning teaching programmes, and we firmly believe in the benefits of reinforcing theory with real-life practical examples.

You’ll benefit from a learning styles assessment when you join, to help us tailor-make and support your progression throughout the course as an individual. As a College, we are inspected by Ofsted, as well as more regularly by external quality assessors, and our expectations of learners are set out in formal policies and protocols.
